在『数码兽大冒险』的第六话登场，是因黑色齿轮而失控的数码兽之一。最终被由巴鲁兽进化而成的仙人掌兽以「尖尖碰碰拳」发射大量尖刺将体内的黑色齿轮顶出。使自身恢复正常。
英文版介绍：After traveling through the sewers, the Chosen Children are ambushed by an army of Numemon. The Chosen Children all run off in different directions. Mimi and Palmon are hiding behind a grassy ridge, when Monzaemon emerges from the top. Palmon tells Mimi that he is a friendly Digimon. But, to their surprise, they find themselves running away from him as he tries to attacks them.
They are chased into Toy Town, where they find that all of the remaining Chosen Children are being played with by toys. The two then hear cries of help, and find that the other Digimon have been imprisoned in a toy chest by Monzaemon, who is under the control of a Black Gear.
Mimi and Palmon face up to Monzaemon. Mimi"s Digivice begins to glow as Palmon begins evolving into Togemon. With a few "Prickly Bang Bangs" and a couple of "Coconuts Punches", Togemon destroys the Black Gear located in Monzaemon"s back. Togemon devolves back to Palmon and is pleased to hear that Monzaemon will release all of the Digimon and Chosen Children.
To show his gratitude for freeing him, he uses his Lovely Attack to surround them in red hearts that give off a warm feeling.

英文版介绍：When Takuya, Kouji and Tomoki land on a floating island called Toy Town (which is literally what it is as it is filled with toys and sweets and rides) they encounter a Monzaemon who was an inhabitant of the floating fun island while riding on a large toy train looking for the Forest Terminal. They see Monzaemon and run to him to ask him where the Forest Terminal is at but he thinks they want to play wrestle and he throws Takuya down, then helps him back up. Monzeamon says he wants to wrestle and Tomoki agrees but Takuya and Kouji are freaked out and grab Tomoki and run away. Monzaemon chases them thinking it"s a game but they hide in a viking ship amusement ride.
A virus Toy Agumon orders Monzaemon to defeat them, but Monzaemon says he doesn"t want to. Angered, the Toy Agumon transformed Monzaemon into Waru Monzaemon who captures Tomoki. But while he is holding Tomoki captive, Tomoki is able to remind Monzaemon of who he was, causing him to return to normal, much to the surprise of Takuya and Kouji who came to rescue him.

After Negamon was finally defeated in "The End of the Adventure", Monzaemon went to the park, where it gave balloons to a Puroromon who was part of a group formed by another Puroromon, some Frimon and two Xiaomon; the Digimon that had been in the park before, as well as an Elecmon, a Tocanmon, a Toy Agumon and a Karatuki Numemon.

英文版介绍：Monzaemon pursued Ex-Tyranomon and Waru Monzaemon in "Bad Friend". He then led Tsukiyono Ruli and Angoramon to the duo after they left Aramaki Kayono"s house, with Hiro following them.
After Ex-Tyranomon and Waru Monzaemon were separated from Kayono by being sent into a pseudo-Digital World, Monzaemon confronted her then made her enter the pseudo-Digital World in a barrier and realize that Ex-Tyranomon and Waru Monzaemon did not see her as a friend but as an object and her actions were wrong. Afterwards, he fully entered the pseudo-Digital World and used his Lovely Attackon the duo, making them turn good.

Monzaemon appears as an obtainable Perfect-level Vaccine type Digimon in Digimon World.
In Toy Town, the town appears to be isolated, with no signs of life but in one of the houses reside two Blikmon that will tell the Player that Monzaemon, the ruler of Toy Town went missing and Waru Monzaemon took over the Town and kidnapped Hagurumon. However the Blikmon won"t accept the Player to rescue Toy Town if they do not have a Monzaemon as a Partner. If the Player goes to the western Ex-Tyranomon shaped building, they"ll find a lifeless bear costume that nothing happens when interacting with it. in the Volume Villa, Tonosama Gekomon will hint the Player to bring a Numemon and let it see react to the costume. To obtain one, the Player must get a Numemon, which its obtained from evolving a Child Digimon when you do not fullfill the requirements of any Evolution.
Once the Player has a Numemon as its partner, the Player must go to where they found the lifeless bear costume before and trying to interact with it, will cause the Numemon to enter in the costume and evolve into Monzaemon. This is pretty much the only evolution in the game where the Digimon"s Stats and Age do not matter.
After the Player brings a Monzaemon to the Blikmon, they"ll open the Toy Mansion, where the Player has to go through and at the final floor, the Player will encounter and face Waru Monzaemon, who they have to fight against. After its defeated, Waru Monzaemon will escape and free Hagurumon, which the Player must bring back to the Blikmon, and the Town will appear to be rehabited and lively again.
A lifeless Monzaemon costume similar to the one in Toy Town will mysteriously appear in the Village of Beginnings, upgrading Jijimon"s house and is seen in the back room hanging in a coat rack, where it can no longer be interacted with anymore. Jijimon will say that it has no idea how the costume arrived there.
Aside from the Suit Evolution method, Numemon is the only Digimon in the game that can also evolve into Monzaemon naturally, in order to evolve into Monzaemon, your Digimon must meet the following criteria:
Monzaemon"s Evolution item is the X-Bandage(愛のばんそうこう Ai no Bansoukou, meaning Love Bandage in Japanese) which lets any Adult Digimon evolve into Monzaemon.

Monzaemon is the partner of Lili. It is also an obtainable Digimon which is evolved from Gaogamon, Leomon, or Numemon, and can evolve to Bancho Leomon or Vikemon. It can also be obtained as a collectible card. Its card is part of the Mystery Digimon Combination(謎のデジモンコンビ Nazo no Dejimon Conbi) set.

Monzaemon appears in Episode 7, "Palmon, Raging Evolution!". His footsteps caused earthquakes, which led the Numemon that was pursuing Tachikawa Mimi and Palmon to hide. He introduced himself as the mayor of Toy Town, who loved and was loved by toys, which led Mimi to believe he had to be a good Digimon. However, Palmon and Numemon disagreed, the latter saying Monzaemon had been acting weird. Mimi then decided to follow him into Toy Town to find the rest of the Chosen Children.
After checking on everyone in Toy Town and realizing they had lost their emotions, Monzaemon appears before Mimi once again. Palmon tells Mimi to run away, and Monzaemon reveals his plan: to erase the children"s emotions and make them into toys for the toys. In anger, Mimi then stood up to Monzaemon, only to be attacked. However, a group of Numemon then appeared to protect her. Realizing how even the dirty and weak Numemon were protecting Mimi, Palmon evolved into Togemon and attacked Monzaemon.
Monzaemon is the sixth obligatory boss of the game, fighting only Mimi and Togemon at the end of Episode 7, "Palmon, Raging Evolution!". For the battle, as in the anime, Palmon will evolve for the first time into Togemon for no SP cost and remain in the form for the battle. Monzaemon can deal damage with Mekara Beamand Boom Boom Punch, or deal multiple hits and Break with Lovely Attack.
After Togemon defeated Monzaemon, the Chosen Children"s Partner Digimon were released, with Agumon explaining that they had been captured by Monzaemon earlier. Furthermore, the Chosen Children recovered their emotions. Monzaemon then asked for forgiveness and explained that he couldn"t forgive toys being thrown away after being used. However, the true cause of his actions was a Black Gear that had entered his body and that then left it.
Monzaemon reappeared in Episode 19, "Departure - to a New Continent!". To help the Chosen Children make a sail to reach Server Continent, he brought them a sail, or rather his bedsheet, from Toy Town. With it, the Chosen Children were able to complete their raft.
A Monzaemon was one of the spectators of the Colosseum"s DigiOne Grand Prix in Sub-Episode 10, "DigiOne Grand Prix".
A Yukidarumon, a Cockatrimon and a Monzaemon ordered food from Vegimon in Digitamamon"s Shop in Episode 27, "Oh Friend! Were Garurumon".

角色形象来源近松门左卫门（1652-1724年），出身于没落的武士家庭，青年时代作过公卿的侍臣。当时町人势力壮大，手工业日益繁荣。士农工商阶层所欣赏的戏剧，主要是净瑠璃和歌舞伎。近松有感于仕途多艰，毅然投身于被人所鄙视的演戏艺人的行列，从事演剧和剧本创作活动，表现了他为平民艺术献身的决心。他从25岁前后开始写作生涯，直到72岁去世为止，共创作净瑠璃剧本110余部、歌舞伎剧本28部。其中，年代最早的是1683年他写成的净琉璃剧本《世继曾我》。
